Join our effort to exempt pumps from tax across the country.

Breast pumps are basic necessities for breastfeeding mothers, and taxing pumps limits access to breastfeeding by making the product more expensive. Breast pumps and supplies should be exempt from sales tax without restriction. Period. A qualified exemption — whether based on medical necessity, pursuant to a prescription, or provided under the state Medicaid program — is insufficient. Eliminating this tax is one step states can take to improve access to breastfeeding for women of all socioeconomic statuses, and it’s a solution that’s both simple and cost-effective. To learn more about this issue, click here.
